Statement
of Faith
We
believe that the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament are
given by inspiration of God and are our infallible rule of faith and
practice.
We believe in one
God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that
Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of the Virgin
Mary, and is the Son of God.
We believe that all
mankind is, by nature, sinful and in need of Jesus Christ as Savior.
We believe that the
Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him
are saved by grace through faith in Him.
We believe that all
who receive by faith the Lord Jesus are born again of the Holy
Spirit and thereby become children of God.
We believe in the
resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension to
heaven, and in His personal return for His church.
Church Covenant
Having been
led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus
Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having
been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the
Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly,
mostly solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as
one body in Christ.
We engage,
therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in
Christian love, to strive for the advancement of this church in
knowledge, holiness, and comfort, to promote its prosperity and
spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and
doctrines, to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of
the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor,
and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations.
We also engage to
maintain as far as possible family and secret devotion; to teach our
children the Christian truths; to seek the salvation of our kindred
and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in
our dealings, faithful in our engagements, exemplary in our
deportment, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom
of our Savior.
We further engage
to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other
in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate
Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to
take offense but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the
rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage
that when we remove from this place, we will, as soon as possible,
unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of
the covenant and principles of God’s Word.
Church Ordinances
Communion: The church comes together at the Lord’s Table the
first Sunday of each month to observe communion. The pastor/speaker
leads the service. Just before the service begins, a benevolent
offering is taken for the sole benefit of helping the needy in the
community.
Baptism:
Water baptism by immersion in the baptistery located above and
behind the pulpit is granted to anyone wishing to be baptized who
has accepted Christ. This baptistery is also used by other churches
which do not have a baptistery.
Constitution
In
January of 2004, the church suspended the constitutional structure
of the church, which provided for various committees and boards, and
adopted a Leadership Board style of structure. This will continue
until further action of the church.
